The Mercer County Farm Bureau and Mercer County 4-H partnered up to donate 40 Easter baskets to the Churches of Mercer County Food Pantry on Tuesday, March 20th. The baskets contained a ham and all of the sides for the making of a complete Easter dinner! The Mercer County Farm Bureau donated the hams and re-usable shopping bags for the baskets. Various Mercer County 4-H clubs all teamed up to donate the sides for the baskets. Mercer County 4-H Federation, Kimel 4-H club, Trail Blazers 4-H club, Alexis All Stars 4-H club, Country Kids 4-H club, and Hamlet Handy Helpers 4-H club all contributed money to purchase the sides for the Easter baskets. Mercer County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee member and 4-H volunteer, Annette Speer, said “I am glad that these Easter baskets will help those less fortunate enjoy a wonderful Easter dinner with their families and that farmers work hard to grow safe and abundant food for everyone.”
